About Me

Nice to meet you! This is my personal site, soon to be filled with all sorts of hobby-centric hodgepodge I'm sure. Originally I'd parked my writing content at Wikispaces but they stopped offering free wikis, so... Wix it was!

Hope to keep building the site as I go. In the meantime, here's an about me section.

Name: Philippa Rose Gissing

Nickname: Pip

Age: 29

Location: NSW, Australia

Qualifications: AMus, BMusStudies

Bio:

I grew up with a musical family in a gorgeous little village brimming with creative, eccentric types. Attended the local public school K-6, and inevitably became the ostracised dorky girl who could never throw a tennis ball or keep up to date with the latest fad (I got as far as learning about Pokémon and stuck with it even after it fell from grace a whole two weeks later). Scored a few neat roles in the city's well known opera company in the meantime, though! Found my niche in more ways than one at the creative arts/music schools a longer public transport trip away from home and continued on with attending those, a few choirs, ensembles and the like during my secondary years.

Halfway through highschool I 'graduated' from the piano to the pipe organ and moved schools for the last two years of assessments and exams. Hobby-wise, meanwhile; life was all about digital art on internet oekaki boards with a mouse and tapping furiously both stories and overly dramatic blog posts on the laptop. Scribbling all over my notebooks intended for study, and sometimes even daydreaming in class.

Pipe Organ took me to university; the campus right next to (sharing the same building, in fact) the secondary school. Five years - and a BMusStudies later - I reckon I was about the happiest woman ever to don those robes on graduation day and prance about before the ceremony in the hall.

Since during University and beyond in the work force I've done everything from childcare to music exam accompaniment, from supervising and serving at the local watering hole to conducting the village's community band... sometimes even at the same time if the occasion calls for it. In my (upsettingly little) spare time I'm still bashing at the laptop and drawing cartoon animals.

I don't always smile like that, really

Shaved my head for the first time ever in 2016

I don't always pull that serial killer expression, by the way
